Sharing the Hope We Have in Christ
I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained. Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. -2 Timothy 2:9-10
When I think of the apostle Paul, I think of a passionate man on a mission willing to do whatever it took to accomplish that task. Knowing the price his Savior paid for his forgiveness, knowing that he was in debt to Christ, Paul faced whatever came his way with spiritual tenacity and a Christ-inspired boldness. Paul dug his heels in for the cause of Christ, and he would not be moved.
Even though Paul was a prisoner in chains for the gospel, the Word of God could not be silenced. Paul's passion was fueled by reality that apart from the gospel, a lost world has no hope. Aware that many people needed to hear Christ's message, Paul made Jesus known anywhere and everywhere he could, Paul allowed nothing to keep him from sharing the gospel.
In Philippians 1:12-13, Paul wrote of the furtherance of the gospel that was happening even while he was imprisoned. Even in chains, he accepted his suffering on behalf of the gospel. We should have the same courage to share the gospel with others in spite of any challenges we face. Someone in your life needs to hear Jesus story today. Share it.
Prayer : Lord, what a privilege to be called to share Your life-saving, life-giving message. Grant me, Your servant, boldness. In Jesus name, Amen.
