BUT HE WAS HERE YESTERDAY

"All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and it's flower falls away, But the word of the Lord endures forever." Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you." 1 Peter 1:24-25

I was eight years old and so excited to get to school early one day. My best friend, Kevin, had promised to let me ride the new bike he received for his birthday. When I arrived at school, I waited and waited, but Kevin never came. I was so disappointed that I didn't see my best friend or get to ride his new bike.
The next day I got up early and raced to school. Kevin wasn't there. At the end of the day, our teacher told us Kevin had moved to another city and would not be returning to our school. I was crying by the time I got home. I told my mom that Kevin had moved and I would never see him again. My mother opened her Bible and read me the Scripture passages you are reading today. She explained that in life we are going to have disappointments. There will be times when people we love will not be with us anymore. But then she told me the good news that Jesus will never leave me and that His Word will last forever.
Have you had friends move away? Maybe someone you love is no longer with you. Remember, Jesus promised you that He would never leave you (Hebrews 13:5) and that you can trust forever what is written in the Bible, and forever is a long time!

Prayer :

Lord Jesus, thank You what friendships teach me about You and thank You that You are the Friend who will never move away. Thank You too for the foundation for life that You provide in Your unchanging and eternal Word.
