A Remarkable New Life
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified and whom He justified, these He also glorified. -Romans 8:29-30
Jesus as our brother? The thought is unimaginable. How could we mere humans ever be any sort of peer to Son of God? Even at our most brilliant moments, at height of our goodness, we can't approach our Lord's perfection.But God's plan to make this happen has unfolded throughout the centuries. The Almighty set in place a series of events that allows created begins to become His children, His sons and daughters, joint heirs with Jesus, The plan is amazing.
Part 1: The Son of God the second Person of the godhead became a fully human man in Jesus and died. He was in the grave for three days and three nights. After that, through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus was raised from the dead. He was the firstborn from the dead!
Part 2: This same experience has been made available to every man and woman, all of whom are, at birth, spiritually dead and separated from God. Each individual can be and must be born again. This second birth is a remarkable thing. Just as the Holy Spirit brought the life of God to those chose to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. At that moment, the new birth occurs, and we become children of God, brothers and sisters of Jesus.
Prayer : Thank You, Lord, for forgiving me, freeing me, and bringing me into Your family. May I always celebrate my newfound life in You. Amen.
