Choosing to Forgive

Whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that Father in heaven may also forgive you your trepasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trepasses. -Mark 11:25-26

Forgiving others is difficult. When we've been hurt deeply, we can find it very challenging to extend grace. However, in today's passage, we learn that if we do not forgive others, the Father will not forgive us.
Extending forgiving may seem impossible at times, and we may feel completely unable to forgive. But know that God is not asking us to do anything He hasn't done. Jesus was betrayed, His friends abandoned Him, He was spit on physically abused, and...He forgave.
On the cross, as He was being crucified, Jesus prayed, "Father, forgive them." (Luke 23:34).
At his stoning, Stephen followed Jesus example (Acts 7:60) Forgiveness is the responsibility of all believers.
And forgiveness is simply supernatural. When our hearts are broken, it can be difficult to offer mercy to the ones who hurt us. Which Christ in us, we can find the power to forgive. Christ. the ultimate Forgiver, lives in us, and His Holy Spirit is at work within us.
If you are struggling to forgive someone, tell the Lord. Ask Him to help you; ask Him to work in your heart. He is faithful. It may be a process, but He will empower you. He will work in you and enable you to choose to forgive.

Prayer : Father, thank You for Your forgiveness. Thank You for Jesus and His example of forgiving others. May Your Holy Spirit work in me and help me forgive those who have sinned against me. In Jesus name, Amen.
