The Gift of Hope

The Angel said to the shepherds, Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger. -Luke 2:10-12

The passage joyfully presents history's great announcement of hope. Whatever area you are struggling in today, whatever concerns for the future are weighing on you, slow down long enough to hear this message of hope. The simple yet profound words "good tidings of great joy" can touch the heart of even the most troubled soul.
This passage shouts of an event and a place, but most of all a person. And not just any person! This is Christ the Lord. The long-awaited Messiah, the Promised One, has been born! With His birth comes hope for all humanity, for He is our Savior.
"Jesus is a child born" is a phrase that points to the incarnation, His humanity. But He is "a Son given," are words that allude to His deity and point to the purpose of His coming: to bring salvation to the world. Yes, Jesus Christ is the One appointed to bear our sins on the cross as the sinless and perfect blood sacrifice. Only He could die in our place, take on Himself the punishment for our sins, and He did so voluntarily.
Therefore, rejoice! Jesus is our hope. In fact, He is the hope of all the world. So take the hope of Jesus into your world today and encourage someone who is struggling. You will be amazed at how this hope truly does change others.

Prayer : Lord, I'm grateful for the gift of hope. Thank You! In Jesus name, Amen.
