Walking in Forgiveness

In Jesus we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He promised in Himself. -Ephesians 1:7-9

A few days ago we looked at the phrase "in Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins." Redemption means "to purchase, to release, to repay, to reconcile, to adopt, to vindicate."
Notice words from this passage: "according to riches of His grace." The apostle Paul did not just say "grace," but "riches of His grace." God's grace is rich, multifaceted, and as we then read, "abounding toward us."
Abounding! In Ephesians 3:8, Paul reminded us of the unsearchable riches of God's grace and glory that He makes known to us "according to His good pleasure."
Acting on His rich and abundant grace, Jesus is pleased to forgive us and redeem us. And these gifts of forgiveness and redemption cost Jesus His blood, His life. Jesus paid the price for our sinfulness, and He purchased us, He redeemed us, from our bondage to sin and death. We please Him, our King, when we walk in the redemption and forgiveness that He offers us.
Your forgiveness of the people who hurt or betray you may not change them, but it will change you! It will not change your past, but it will change your future. May we for Jesus forgiveness, receive it, extend our forgiveness to others, and live as people who have been redeemed!

Prayer : Lord Jesus, thank You for shedding Your blood for me. Help me to walk daily in the forgiveness and redemption You purchased for me. Amen.
