Cheerfully Invest Your Life in Others
He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
-2 Corinthians 9:6-8
God wants us to be cheerful givers of time, talents, and treasures He gives us.
I'm on the road a lot. Once when I was in Missouri, I received a Facebook message from a woman asking me to pray about possibly presenting the gospel at a local skating rink where several lost teenagers hung out. She had grown up going there, and God had burdened her heart for young people she saw there each day. I told her, "I don't have to pray about it. Let's do it!"
I was excited to go that night. The woman made the arrangements and spread the word, and the rink played Christian music and offered special pricing. Halfway through the night, the rink gave me the mic. I stood in the center of the rink, with skaters all around, and presented the gospel. I told how Jesus cam from heaven, was born of virgin, gave His life for our sins, conquered death, and rose victoriously. I gave an invitation, and that night thirty-six people gave their hearts and lives and lives to Jesus.
The woman burdened for lost teenagers gave of her time. The skating rink owner gave of his treasure. I was able to give of my talents. Whatever you do, you must do it cheerfully.
Prayer : Lord Jesus, guide my sowing. Showing where you want me to invest my time, talents, and treasures, and help me do it cheerfully for Your glory. Amen.
