Extravagant Joy

"In that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full." -John 16:23-24

What brings you joy? What brings you joy says a lot about you. If you could ask for anything, what would it be?
We have an extravagant  God who loves us beyond measure. Why not ask Him to help you share the gospel? Ask God to make you a soul winner. After all, what could give you greater joy? Being present when the Lord saves another soul brings more joy to a believer's heart than any other thing.
Tragically, in the American church today, we don't see in God's people a hunger for souls or hearts broken for the lost around us. Our passion for the salvation of others has cooled. Proverbs 11:30 says, "He who wins souls is wise." Proverbs 10:5 says, "He who sleeps in harvest awaits. We need to be awake, excited, expectant, and full of joy as we share with people the good news of God's love and grace.
Saved souls bring great joy extravagant joy to the very heart of God. So what are you asking Him for? Material things? Prosperity? Fame? Or saved souls that bring true joy?

Prayer : Lord Jesus, help me today to tell others about You. Lay on my heart the names of people who need to hear Your truth and enable me to be loving, articulate, kind, and bold as I share Your story with them. Amen.
