DO NOT HIDE THE LIGHT

"Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a lampstand? For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light. If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear." Mark 4:21-23


What good is it to have a lamp if we never let anyone see it? What good is it to have a lamp if we never use it for what it's meant to be used for? In both cases, that lamp is of no use at all. Things are created for a purpose, and it makes sense to use them for their specific purposes. Consider now Jesus life, death, and resurrection. What if Jesus had never revealed the purpose of each event? What if He had paid the ransom for our sins but never communicated it to mankind? We would still be dead in our sins and separated from God.
Before Christ ascended back into heaven, He who is the Light of the World declared that His followers are to be the light of the world as well. It is, therefore, our purpose as believers not to hide the light from the world, but instead to allow our light to dispel the world's darkness. Then by God's grace, unbelievers all over the world will see that light of truth and life; choose to forsake the darkness; and commit themselves to serving the Light of the World so that they too can be beacons of light in this world.

Prayer :

Lord, deliver me from timidity, fear, laziness, and anything else that keeps my light from shining for You.
