DOING ALL THINGS

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

A text without a context can cause problems, confusion, and the spread of untruths. But sometimes the context does more than prevent those things; sometimes the context adds greater strength and significance to even a single line. Today's often quoted text gains even more power when you read it in it's context.
In Philippians 4:11-12 we read that Paul has traveled to many places, experienced much hardship, befriended dear people only to have to say "goodbye," took big risks, and stayed faithful to his Lord despite the cost. And God had provided His sufficiency in each every situation. Maybe that is one reason why, in verses 10-13, the apostle Paul spoke of being content in every situation. In low times as well as in seasons of ease, whether he faced plenty or hunger, abundance, or need, Paul turned to the Lord and found strength in Him. Paul experienced the glory of doing all things in the power of God. And his list of  "all things" is sobering reminder of how much the apostle truly needed the strength of his Lord.
What will you face today? You probably have a general schedule, but you don't know all the people or situations you will encounter. What does your weekend hold? None of us can know for sure. But we do know Jesus Christ.
And we know that He is able, that He will not leave you nor forsake you, that He is your strength. So whatever comes your way, know that you can face it, accomplish it, conquer it, and survive it.

Prayer :

Lord, thank You for being the source of my true strength. I trust You and I am confident that I can endure because of who You are. Thank You!

Amen
