ENDURING AND PURSING

Do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise. Hebrews 10:35-36

Don't give up on the hope of heaven! Don't "cast away your confidence" that Jesus is coming back! Don't defect from your life giving faith in Jesus Christ! Apparently, the Hebrew recipients of this letter were abandoning the truth of the gospel and returning to their former Jewish practices that were incompatible with their newfound faith in Christ. So this is a clarion call to persevere and stay committed to the truth of our salvation by God's grace through faith in Jesus death on behalf of our sin and His victory over sin and death.
The Bible clearly teaches the assurance of our salvation: God's power keeps us, the Holy Spirit seals us, and our salvation is sure. This guarantee, however, isn't a license to neglect personal obedience or to sin presumptuously. Also remember that perseverance doesn't make us Christians. It simply reveals that we are Christians. God wants us to endure in our faith when times are difficult, and He can use our perseverance as a powerful witness to people around us.
Finally, God's Word teaches that we can be confident about our salvation, and that confidence is rooted in God's  great faithfulness to us. And there is no greater demonstration of love and faithfulness than Jesus death on the cross and what His death accomplished for us.

Prayer :

Father, thank You that my salvation is secure in You and for the confidence that fact instills. Keep me pursing You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength.
