REDEEMING GRACE
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God has passed over the sins that were previously committed. Romans 3:23-25
Jesus is your redeeming grace. Several years ago a pastor friend and his wife welcomed into their home a young boy as a foster child. He wasn't even a year old, yet his leg had been broken in the abuse he suffered at home. The couple immediately fell in love with him and soon adopted him. They showed this boy redeeming grace.
To redeem a slave from slavery was to pay the purchase price to the owner. To redeem us from slavery to sin and Satan, Jesus paid the purchase price with His shed blood. We were orphans with no hope and no future, and then God sent Jesus to redeem us from our sins.
God "set Jesus forth as a propitiation" You and I never could satisfy the demands of a holy God, but Jesus could. He redeemed us.
God "demonstrate His righteousness." Sinless Jesus became the guilty sinner on our behalf, and we who were lost became saved.
God "passed over previous sins." Thank God that, through the gift of Jesus who suffered our punishment, all our sins are passed over.
Prayer :
Dear God, I thank You today for Your redeeming grace. You knew my sins and saw my need. You let Your Son die; You let Him shed His blood and pass over my sins. Thank You for adopting me as Your child.
Amen
