REFLECTING ON HIS LOVE

Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; O Lord, You preserve man and beast. How precious is Your loving kindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. Psalm 36:5-7

The psalms are raw, real and full of  emotion. They are prayers to God from real people about real life, so they are not always encouraging. The psalms teach us to worship and pray. They teach us that it's okay to cry, doubt, question, struggle, and even rage. They call us to trust, believe, have faith, and remember God's faithfulness throughout the ages.
Psalm 36:5-7 celebrates the greatness of out God. As Creator, God is above, outside of, and apart of His creation, but that doesn't mean He is removed from it. He is deeply involved in caring for us, His most precious creation. He expresses His great love for us in His mercy. He is faithful He is the Giver and Sustainer of life. He is our judge, yet also our Advocate. He is our Savior. He paid the debt for our sins. He rescued us from darkness. He knows our name and our needs. He knows all about us and loves us anyway. We can't escape from His presence or from His love.
A friend of mine told me recently, "There are no emergency meetings in heaven over my circumstances." In His sovereignty, God is never surprised by what we encounter. And whatever those circumstances are, we can be sure that His love is unfailing. He is with us. And He is ready to meet you and me at our points of need.

Prayer :

Creator God, it is good to meditate on Your greatness and love. May I always be awed by Your kindness and grace.

Amen
