REST IN THE LORD

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret it only causes harm....The Lord knows the days of the upright, and their inheritance shall be forever. Psalms 37:7-8, 18

This psalm is just as relevant in the twenty first century as it was when David wrote it. How many times have you let someone ruin your day? The driver who cut you off? A neighbor who is just being a pain? Watching the news and losing it because if you were in charge, you would do a much better job? Does it bother you that evil people seem to get away with all kinds of things or that people who do illegal things seem to prosper?
If any of those questions ring true for you, note what David said to us:

"Do not fret (worry) because of evildoers." (verse 1)
"Be not envious toward wrongdoers" (verse 1)
"Trust in the Lord, and do good" (verse 3)
"Delight yourself in the Lord" (verse 4)
"Commit your way to the Lord" (verse 5)
"Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him." (verse 7)

Also don't focus on others; focus on God. Focusing on the wrongs people do will only cause your blood pressure to rise. Instead, focus on your Lord and His glory, love, and grace. Know you are His, and you will be with Him forever!

Amen
