SHOW AND TELL

God says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion." Romans 9:15

Most of us living on this planet today believe we are basically good. However, the reality is quite different: all of us are fundamentally broken. We are naturally depraved. Left to ourselves, we default to selfishness and sin, and we are prone to wander. We may have some good moments, but we have plenty of bad moments. In fact, when we consider our attitudes, thoughts, and hearts, the bad far too often outweighs the good!
Thankfully, God is love. And in His love, He is perfectly merciful and just. God's mercy keeps us from experiencing the judgment we deserve. God's grace gives us goodness that we don't deserve. To be specific, God the Father sent the Son to take punishment for our sins. God withholds from us the penalty of sin, directing it instead to His Son, and then gives us the gift of His Son's righteousness so we can pass the test of holiness. God's mercy to us is one way He displays His love, His grace, and His glory.
Romans 2:4 says, "God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance." And His mercy does lead us back into relationship with Him. As recipients of His mercy, we are to extend His mercy, love, and grace to others. In fact, God may use us as channels of His mercy, love, and grace in their lives to make real His life changing love for them.

Prayer :

God, give me opportunities to show and tell Your mercy. Give me courage to show and tell of Your love.

Amen
