TWO KINDS OF EYES

"The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!" Matthew 6:22-23

Modern medicine has made cataract surgery an outpatient procedure, and afterward many patients celebrate that objects are no longer dark or cloudy, but clear and plain. In order to see the world as God does, we need to keep the spiritual cataracts from our eyes. Only then will we not be blinded by our self-centeredness and greed. Our healthy spiritual eyes will instead be focused on the things that have eternal value. Spiritually unhealthy eyes are focused on what one can attain for the here and now, the life that someone lives on earth.
Could your vision be one reason life today seems dark? Are you focusing your eyes on the temporary rather than on the eternal?

Prayer :

Father, may Your Holy Spirit help me to have a clear vision of the eternal and to live for that.
