RECOGNIZE THOSE WHO LABOR

Comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing. We urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
1 Thessalonians 5:11-13

Most companies, organizations, clubs, governments, teams almost every group in the world honors hardworking and faithful members.
And we are to recognize those same qualities in the church.
Scripture teaches that all Christ-followers have an obligation to encourage and build up other followers. Comforting fellow believers, though, doesn't mean we simply pat them on the head or heartily shake their hands. Instead, we are to put strength into them for their responsibilities as support them so they will grow stronger in their faith.
While we must comfort and edify every believer, we must show special recognition to those among us who are our spiritual authorities, those who "labor among us". That word labor does not imply just an hour or two on Sunday, but toiling to the point of weariness and exhaustion. Honor these leaders for their work and for their worth in the body of Christ.
God says we are to "esteem them very highly in love" : we must give them the respect that their love and service deserve. We should ask ourselves today, "Do we discourage or encourage our spiritual leaders?" The result will be harmony in the church. As we encourage one another and show respect to our spiritual leaders, we will enjoy greater peace in our family of believers.

Prayer :

Precious Lord, please help me use my words and actions to cause Your church and our spiritual leaders to be encouraged and strengthened.

Amen
