ACCEPTING OTHERS

Receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God. Now I say that Jesus Christ has become a servant to the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers, and that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy. Romans 15:7-8

If you've traveled to the Middle East, you've seen how most Jews and Gentiles struggle to accept one another. This is not a new problem, and nothing suggests it is going to be resolved anytime soon. Yet God's plan to redeem the world through the death of Christ on the cross is a plan to redeem both Jews and Gentiles. Jesus died for the sins of all people.
When we ask Christ to be Lord of our lives, He receives us as we are. We don't have to clean ourselves up before He will save us. We simply go to Him in repentance and faith, and He does for us what no one else can do for us: Jesus forgives us and accepts us just as we are at the time, and all glory of this grace goes to God.
So who are we not to accept others? We need to love and accept all people. In one hand we hold the truth of God, and in the other, the love of God. And we extend both to people. We gently but clearly speak the truth about the consequences of sinful choices...and we love them.
After all, if it weren't for the grace of God helping us recognize the truth about Jesus and the truth about ourselves, we would still be right where unbelievers are today.

Prayer :

Jesus, thank You for opening my eyes to both the truth of who You are and the truth that I am a sinner in need of a Savior. Help me to accept others with Your love.

Amen
