CARING ABOUT OTHERS

All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's well-being. Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience sake; for "the earth is the Lord's, and it's fullness."
1 Corinthians 10:23-26

The big idea in this challenging text is to think about other people rather than about ourselves. Doing so gives God glory!
In today's passage, Paul addressed the complicated issue of living out our or who are weaker brothers. Paul discouraged legalism that adds to God's Word. He encouraged liberty in Christ that is found when we live within the parameters of God's Word. But not all issues are clear-cut.
Within parameters of Christian liberty, we are called to consider others when we make choices: we want our choices to build up rather than weaken their faith. We never want to make choices that offend a brother or alienate a person who needs Jesus. We should refuse our own self-gratification in order to choose something much better: building up another person's faith and confidence in the Lord.
This weekend, what can you do to live this out in your family? In your neighborhood? In your church?
Think about others when you make choices. This weekend focus on others.
This brings God glory!

Prayer :

Lord, I want to die to myself today. Help me choose to care about others and serve them with Your love.

Amen
