DON'T BE MEAN

A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth. 2 Timothy 2:24-25

Every follower of Jesus is a missionary. Therefore, your life must represent Jesus well. The number one attack on the message of the gospel of Jesus is false teaching. You do not have to look far to find someone who is watering down the message, adding to the message, or creating a new message altogether. It is incumbent upon you to know the truth and be ready to give a defense of the truth.
Paul warned that when giving a defense of the truth, we must make sure to watch our attitudes. We may say the right biblical things, but if we deliver it with a sour attitude, we may turn people away from Jesus.
Also we must work not to clash severely with unbelievers. We can and need to be bold but without being mean. We can be kind as we present the truths of the gospel: those truths stand on their own merit when they're compared to that which false. Like the Lord, we must be patient and not pompous as we share the truth. We must not answer opposition in a way that might harm our relationship with others.
Trust the Lord to bring to bring repentance those with whom you live, work, and play. Ask the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of the blind that they may see the truth of the gospel.

Prayer :

Father, help me be patient, articulate, kind, and humble when I share the good news with people who need to hear it.

Amen
