JOY IN HEAVEN

"What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, "Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!" I say to you likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance" Luke 15:4-7

Jesus told this parable when the Pharisees were grumbling about Him. They spoke negatively of Jesus because He apparently enjoyed welcoming sinners and tax collectors into His company. With this parable, Jesus hoped that the religious elite might compare their reactions to the reactions in heaven when one sinner repents.
Jesus began by stating the obvious: if you've lost a sheep, you go and find that sheep. Then, after finding the lost sheep, you gather others together and rejoice that you have found the lost one. If you hadn't found the sheep, you likely would have had to pay the owner of the flock for the one sheep that was lost on your watch.
If the shepherd in the parable seeks out a lost sheep witch such passion, how much greater will be Jesus, passion, how much greater will be Jesus passion as He seeks out lost souls? If the shepherd and his friends experience such excitement after finding a lost sheep, how much greater the excitement in heaven must be when a lost soul is found?
Clearly, a sheep is hardly disposable, so can any human created in God's image be treated as disposable?

Prayer :

Father, give me the joy of heaven when souls are found and brought into Your flock and please use me in that effort.

Amen
