THE BENEFITS OF ETERNAL LIFE

Having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:22-23

Christians often hear certain terms used again and again, and we can easily become desensitized to their meaning and power. The gift of eternal life, for instance, is something about which we sing, preach, and teach, yet it is difficult for us to comprehend the concept of eternity. A lifetime is a long time, but eternity is difficult to get our minds around. When does eternity begin? When does it end? I once heard that if each grain of sand on every beach in the whole world represented one million years, that incredible span of time would not even a dent in eternity.
Have considered the scope of eternity, let's now reflect on the numerous and wonderful benefits of eternal life. Eternal life is ours because, through Jesus, our sins are forgiven and His righteousness has been credited to us. We, therefore, have peace with God, a new standing before Him, and personal access to Him. We can rejoice in the hope of glory, a hope that is sure and steadfast, strengthened by the love of God that fills our hearts. Eternal life also means we have received the Holy Spirit and are no longer spiritually dead. Additionally, we are saved from the wrath of God and receive atonement and an abundance of  grace. Eternal life is ours only because of our total justification in God's eyes. And that justification is God's amazingly gracious gift to us.

Prayer :

Father, I am overwhelmed by Your goodness and grace. You have given me the marvelous gift of eternal life, and I am grateful for all You have done in my life.

In Jesus name, Amen.
