THE BLESSING OF FAITHFULNESS

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

Soul satisfying peace comes with trusting someone completely. Such trust is extremely rare and perhaps entirely impossible sine we are part of a depraved humanity. We are too easily suspicious; we too readily expect people to disappoint us. Yes, we trust but we trust only some people, we trust them only to a certain point. Our relationships even with those whom we love may be tinged with some disappointment and impacted by unmet expectations.
When writing Christians in Thessalonica about Jesus second coming, Paul instructed the letter's recipients to live everyday in light of the possibility of Christ's return. Believers are to look forward to Christ's return with great expectation, but the unknown timing of the event could motivate people to live life to the fullest or encourage them to focus on opportunities to make a difference in the world around them.
Paul outlined certain things we should do in light Christ's promised return: "comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak...pursue what is good both yourselves and for all, rejoice always, pray without ceasing...and abstain from every form of evil" (1 Thessalonians 5:14-17,22).
No doubt first century Christians thought, "Easier read than done!" Then Paul told them that God who had called them to these high standards would work in and through them to accomplish these things.

Prayer :

Thank You, God that we can trust You to enable us to do what You have called us to do.

Amen
