THE GREATEST BLESSING

Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways. When you eat the labor of your hands, you shall be happy, and it shall be well with you. Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of your house, your children like olive plants all around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord. Psalm 128:1-4

Have you ever wondered how it's possible to be blessed but not feel blessed? How does that happen? How can we know on an intellectual level that we are very blessed but on and emotional and practical level not feel blessed at all?
An unfortunate aspect of not feeling blessed is that we lose the ability to enjoy the blessings right in front of us. We see this fact frequently playing itself out in today's culture. Some of the most blessed people on the planet feel empty rather than blessed. What looks likes blessings to outsides doesn't satisfy or fulfill.
These wealthy but poor individuals are very different from the writer of Psalm 128, who speaks to us of the blessedness of the person who fears God. He spoke of the wonderful ripple effect of fearing God. The psalmist points out that the person who fears God also enjoys his work, his marriage, and his children.
It seems clear, then, that if we are going to know we are blessed, if we are going to feel blessed, and if we are going to enjoy life's blessings, the first step is choosing to live with a healthy respect and reverence toward God. You see, the key to enjoying life's great blessings is to first recognize and enjoy the greatest blessing of all: our heavenly Father.

Prayer :

Heavenly Father, You are my greatest blessing! Help me to live consistently in light of this wonderful truth.

Amen
