THE PATHWAY OF DELIGHT

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth it's fruit in it's season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. Psalm 1:1-3

Today's passage speaks of two pathways that we can choose between for a possible source of delight. We can choose to walk in the pathway of an ungodly environment or a godly environment. We choose that godly path when our "delight is in the law of the Lord." This word delight means "to take pleasure in or to desire with hunger."
What does it look like to delight in God's Law? First, we must meditate on the Word. This means to read it, and think about over and over again until the Word has captured our hearts and is directing our steps. Second, we must appropriate the Word. We must apply the Word in our lives. We are to live in such a way that the truth of God's Word is clearly reflected in what we say and how we act.
Are you allowing the truth of God's Word to be planted in your life and rooted deeply into the soil of your heart? When you appropriate the Word in your life, you will bear the fruit of God's righteousness.

Prayer :

Lord, today I ask you to grow in me desire to delight in Your pathway. Please enable me and empower me to learn as well as appropriate the truths of Your Word, so my life might bear the fruit of Your righteousness.

Amen
