A WALL OF PROTECTION

He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that files by day...A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Psalm 91:4-5,7

As a quarterback,  our son depends on his offensive linemen to protect him. While playing, the other team is charging toward him with one thought in mind: sack the quarterback! His offensive linemen form a wall of protection to keep the defenders out and the quarterback safe. We are grateful for those young men and for the fact that the wall usually holds.
Psalms 91 gives us a beautiful picture of God's intimate, sufficient, and never failing protection. He covers us with His feathers when we take refuge under His wings. God's faithfulness is the source of our security; it forms a shield around us, and it functions as a wall of protection behind which we can hide. That is why we need not fear what we know or what we cannot see.
We feel vulnerable at times because we are. In this fallen world, bad things do happen to good people.
But we are not alone. The Lord is our Shield, and we can trust in His providential, unfailing care for us.


Prayer :

Lord, thank You that i am safe and secure, surrounded by the Shield of Your protection. I will not be afraid. I will trust in You. Amen.
