A NEW HEART
"A good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by it's own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil, For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks." Luke 6:43-45
As a pastor I often counsel people struggling with anger, temptation, pride, jealousy, envy, and so forth. The truth is that on some level all of us deal with these issues. While these may seem like problems, they are actually symptoms of a much deeper issue a sinful heart.
Someone once said, "What's down in the well comes up in the bucket," and Solomon understood this truth. In Proverbs 4:23 he wrote, "Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life." The picture here is guarding or placing fortresses around our hearts. While this is good to do and can be done by abiding in God's Word and living lives of prayer, we must be sure that we are not just watching over and protecting wicked hearts. The truth is that we need new hearts!
As David said in Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart." The beauty of the gospel is that God is in the heart transplant business (Ezekiel 36:26; 2 Corinthians 5:17)! Through Jesus Christ, we can have new hearts and live in ways that bear good fruit to the glory of God.
Prayer :
Father, create within me a clean heart. Enable me to bear good fruit for Your glory in every aspect of my life.
Amen
If you feel led to sow in my ministry that is my links God bless you abundantly.
