CHOSEN AND LOVED

"You are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.
The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt." Deuteronomy 7:6-8

Everyone likes to be chosen. Boys dream of being chosen for the football team. Young women desire to be chosen as a wife. Adults in the workplace long to be chosen for a job promotion. Being chosen feels good. God chose the line of Abraham, the nation of Israel to be His people, and He set them apart to be unlike other nations. Why did He choose them? Not because of anything they did, but simply because He loved them. This truth applies to your life as well. Like Israel, you have been chosen by God (Ephesians 1:3-5). And why did He choose you? He chose you not because of anything you've done but simply because He loves you! Regardless of your present circumstances, remember that you are chosen by God and loved by Him. Jesus reiterated in the New Testament, "You did not choose Me, but I chose you" (John 15:16). You did not do anything to earn God's favor, but you are a recipient of His blessings. Spend some time today thanking the Lord that you have been chosen and not overlooked!
