DON'T LOSE FOCUS

"Now these are the seeds of God's Word sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirty fold, some sixty, and some a hundred." Mark 4:18-20

Today we consider the warning that emanates from this Mark 4 text. In addition to the reality of being separated from God for all eternity in a place called hell, a person's greatest fear should be coming to the end of this life and having nothing to show for it. First John 2:28 warns us readers that Christians should abide in Jesus so we can have confidence and not be ashamed at His appearing.
If we are not careful, though, this life will pass us by, and our opportunity to make a difference will be gone. Many believers will go to heaven, but they will go empty handed because they did not heed the warning in Mark 4.So they will be embarrassed to meet the Savior and have no gift to give Him.
One danger of life in this busy world is that we can easily be distracted and lured away from the things of God. Let us not suffer losses in eternity because we focused too much of our attention and energy on the temporary things of this world.

Prayer :

Lord, help me listen to and follow the sweet voice of Your Word. May I believe You when You say, "Great is your reward in heaven" (Matthew 5:12). Help me to remember that my citizenship is found in heaven with You. This world is not my home! Amen
