GOOD GROUND IS BROKEN GROUND

"He who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty." Matthew 13:23

From the cotton fields of the Mississippi Delta to the peanut patches of southwest Georgia, I have been around farmers and farming for as long as I can remember. Jesus often alluded to farming to teach lessons of His kingdom. Today's verse comes from His parable of the soils.
Of the four types of  ground that Jesus mentioned, only one was good for producing fruit, and that was broken ground. Just as the farmer uses a plow to break up the ground so it will be a good seedbed, the Lord often allows trails in our lives to break up the hardened ground of our hearts in order that His Word can be planted deep in our souls.
A broken heart is one longing comfort. For a Christian, encouragement from Jesus can bring comfort like nothing else can. Jesus is the only One who can make a broken heart better and stronger than it was in the beginning.
Spend time reading the Bible. Watch with anticipation to see what kind of fruit the Lord brings from your life. When it's "a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty," there is plenty to share with others. May many taste and see from your life that the Lord is good!

Prayer :

Lord, break my hard heart so it will be good ground for seeds of Your Word to grow and produce a harvest for Your kingdom. In Jesus Christ name, Amen
