LOVE NOT THE WORLD

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world  passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.
1 John 2:15-17

The central message of the Bible is love. However, we are not to love the world. The love for the world and the things in the world is a very dangerous desire. We are in the world but not of the world. The love of the world truncated the destiny of Demas who initially was ardent disciple disciple of Christ along with Luke.

The love of the world led King Solomon astray until his twilight years, and he concluded that all was vanity. The love for the world also aborted the prophetic career of Gehazi, who lost a great opportunity of being a carrier of triple portion of level of power of his master, Elisha. Lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and pride of life all characterize the love of the world.

In modern times, some of the indicators of this dangerous love include extreme sophistication, desire for carnival and not revival, strong pull towards entertainment, night clubbing, unnatural closeness with unbelieving friends, carnality, inordinate affections, etc.

Allow the Holy Spirit to work on you and determine not to allow this dangerous love manifest in your life. You can overcome the love of the world by filling your life with the love of the Father, His word and the kingdom project. Loving the Father has unidentifiable rewards for you, both here and in heaven.
