THE JOY WE RECEIVE

Let all those who put their trust in You; let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You. For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield. Psalms 5:11-12

Everything we receive in the Christian life we receive by faith. Faith is the hand that reaches out to accept what the grace of God gives. One of those gifts from God is joy.
In a single verse here Psalm 5:11 the psalmist used three different ways to describe the joy of the Lord. "Rejoice" means to show gladness. To "shout for joy" means to cry out in triumph. To "be joyful" means to experience and express the deep emotions of joy.
Doesn't everyone want a life typified by a joy so rich it takes a dictionary to describe it? All of us can have that joy if we believe God. The psalmist said those who trust in the Lord are blessed recipients of an almost indescribable joy. The Hebrew word for trust in verse 11 is used sometimes to describe a person seeking shelter, a place of security. Once we find that resting place in Christ, we will truly know joy.

Prayer :

Lord Jesus, You are my joy! Today I reaffirm my trust in You and with gratitude receive afresh the precious gift of Your Joy. In Jesus Christ name, Amen.
