ENCOURAGEMENT
The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. Isaiah 50:4
Words have immeasurable power and influence. Because the effect of the spoken word can be so far reaching, it is vitally important that we use our words carefully.
In every area of life you will find people who regard it their duty to discourage others. Unfortunately most of the time this is because they are jealous of, and begrudge, the successes of others.
As followers of the Master, who strive to follow His example, we must consciously try to say things that inspire and encourage. This does not imply that we must agree with everything, but that we speak a word of wisdom and encouragement to those who require help and guidance.
Sometimes it might be necessary to criticize, but this should never be done in an unfriendly or harsh manner. Let it always be in love, constructive and with Christ’s attitude. To be a person who encourages makes you a blessing where you live and work.
When you start treating people in this way, you will inspire your own spirit and you will become gloriously conscious of the Lord’s presence in your life. Therefore, start practicing the ministry of encouragement in His name. It is highly unlikely that you will experience despair yourself while encouraging others, especially if it is done in the attitude and love of the great Comforter.
Prayer :
Gracious Lord, You have encouraged me so often. Make me willing to be a source of encouragement to others.
Amen
