COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

Though the fig tree does not bud yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Habakkuk 3:17-18

Many people have a problem linking Christianity and joy together because they think of religion as solemn, serious and rigid. The result is that they miss out on many dimensions of balanced Christian life.

Some people think that Paul's call to the Philippians to rejoice in the Lord does not suit this worthy man of faith, and that it was also out of place in those times of bitter persecution.

However, Scripture teaches us that there is always joy to be found in God's presence. To experience this joy, it is imperative to live in total harmony with Him. Then you can rejoice in times of prosperity and adversity.

How we express our Christian joy depends on each individual's temperament. There are those who will express their joy in a spontaneous, jubilant manner, while others will experience it in a more subdued or reserved manner.

Yet it is not the expression itself that is important, but the actual experience. Never judge people's inner feelings by their outward expressions. Whether you are outwardly vocal about the wonder of being God's child or whether you experience unspoken joy the main thing  is to praise Him from a heart filled with gratitude.

Prayer :

Jesus, Source of all my joy, thank You that my joy is not dependent on my circumstances, but on my relationship with You.

Amen
