Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
_*(Isaiah 43:18-19, NIV)*_
_*Isaiah 43:18-19 KJV*_
[18] Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
[19] Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Isaiahβs prophecy in todayβs Scripture was directed to the Israelites when they had been in captivity in Babylon for many years. Iβm sure they thought, βHave you seen how powerful our enemies are? Weβre stuck. Weβll never be free, never own our own houses, never live an abundant life.β But GOD says that if youβre dwelling on the past, you wonβt see the new thing. If youβre focused on who hurt you and what wasnβt fair, youβll miss your destiny. Living in regrets for former things will keep you from new opportunities. Reliving your mistakes will stop the new favor from springing up. If youβre looking back at the old, you wonβt see the new.
When you drive your car, thereβs a big windshield in front of you and a very small rearview mirror. The reason itβs so small is because whatβs behind you is not nearly as important as whatβs in front of you. Where youβre going is what matters, not where youβve been. Is there something you need to forget, so you can see the new thing?
