CHRISTLIKE HAPPINESS

He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. He will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God his Savior.  Psalms 24:4-5 Christ's happiness, blessing and joy are indestructible (see John 16:22). Christ's happiness that cannot be erased by sorrow, loss, disappointment or failure. It is a happiness that still sees a rainbow through your tears. It is something that nothing in life or death can deprive us of.  Christ's happiness is born from an intimate walk with God: today, through the dark night, tomorrow and every day. It is like the depth of the ocean that surges and seethes above, where waves toss and break, causing rough waters. However, underneath, it is quiet and calm. It is like the little bird that builds it's nest on the rocky ledge under the thundering roar of the waterfall and, in the midst of the storm, serenely sits on it's nest, hatching it's little eggs. Christ's hap

JOYOUS CHRISTIANITY

All the days of the oppressed are wretched, but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.  Proverbs 15:15 Paul was sitting in a cold cell of a Roman jail when he encouraged the Philippian Christians to be cheerful, "Rejoice in the always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4). One of the most valuable gifts that the Holy Spirit has bestowed upon God's children is the gift of contagious gladness and joy. Yet even the Christian's life is subject to tides of ever-changing emotions. The life of our Lord is an excellent example of this as He also experienced the heights and depths of the spirit. The joy that Christ brings into our lives is much more than just a smile. There are times when you would much rather cry. However, when we set our minds on Christ, a peaceful spirit is established and this generates real joy and gladness. You live in the assurance that God is in control even in the most confusing times of your life. This blessed assurance is worth more

REJOICE IN THE LORD

You have made known to me the path of life, You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.  Psalms 16:11 For some people prayer is boring. This is especially true if the beauty of prescribed prayer has waned and it has become nothing but a habit. It smothers your longing for God. Prayer can also become an unbearable burden if it is only a meaningless repetition of words and phrases.  Prayer must be kept fresh and vibrant if you want it to achieve God's purpose. He never intended conversing with Him to be boring and dull. That is why the living presence of God and never our own needs and desires must always be at the center of our prayers. You cannot be involved in praising and worshiping God without becoming intensely aware of the fact that you are in His holy presence. Praise is the doorway that leads you into the throne room of God. When you become conscious of being in His holy presence, you experience exceeding joy and glory like nowhere

BE JOYFUL

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.  Philippians 4:4-5 Perhaps the time has come for Christians to take stock of their attitude towards life. Galatians 5:22 lists the fruit of Spirit. First we find love: the greatest of all. Secondly Paul mentions joy: an equally important sign redemption.  However, we find very little of this Christians joy in everyday life and tend to be somber, reserved, and morbid. This is a sad denial of the life of joy for a Christian. Many people think we simply have to endure this life so that we can go heaven one day. If, however, we do not practice the art of cheerfulness now, we will not appreciate the joy in heaven.  What the prodigal son in Jesus parable missed most in the joyless country of sin was the joyful feasting in his father's house.  This why we, the redeemed, should become part of God's feast here and now. We do accept that our sins are forgiven, but refuse to

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

Though the fig tree does not bud yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.  Habakkuk 3:17-18 Many people have a problem linking Christianity and joy together because they think of religion as solemn, serious and rigid. The result is that they miss out on many dimensions of balanced Christian life. Some people think that Paul's call to the Philippians to rejoice in the Lord does not suit this worthy man of faith, and that it was also out of place in those times of bitter persecution. However, Scripture teaches us that there is always joy to be found in God's presence. To experience this joy, it is imperative to live in total harmony with Him. Then you can rejoice in times of prosperity and adversity.  How we express our Christian joy depends on each individual's temperament. There are those who will express their joy in a spontaneous, jubilant manner, while others will experience it in a more subdued or reserved manner. Yet it is not the expression

LIVE LIFE TO THE FULL

My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior. Luke 1:46-47 Many people view religion as a heavy and sometimes even unbearable burden. They easily frown upon any semblance of light heartedness in spiritual matters. They stoop somberly under the heavy burden of their spiritual conscience. This definitely not what God intended. The faith of the Christian should be a joyous experience. Your Father takes joy in and is interested in your life. He is happy when you are happy, He consoles you in sadness and grief, He supports you when the burden becomes too heavy for you; He helps you up when you stumble over obstacles; He enjoys your successes as you enjoy them yourself. Christianity does not eliminate joy and happiness from your life. On the contrary, it returns happiness to your life. Through your communion with Christ, you realize the blessing of His presence every day. The more you praise and thank Him, the more happiness you glean from your spiritual life. Happines
